Service facilities are essential element of road transportation system and a window to embody the road traffic culture and promote the concept of highway service. With the continuous improvement of the general trunk road network, the continuous improvement of the technical level, as well as the return of ordinary trunk roads to the public welfare attributes, the road traffic will continue to expand, will certainly promote the increase in service demand and higher requirements for the service function. At present, compared with expressways, the highways have "innate deficiencies" in service facilities, in the planning and construction of previous roads, no full consideration of service facilities has been taken, the existing service facilities have only single function, poor facilities, low level of service, uneven distribution and many other problems.
Considering the existing situation of provincial road network planning, road service level and traffic growth, in line with the "People-oriented and Vehicle-oriented" principle, on the basis of the positioning of general trunk road service facilities function, we made a reasonable planning for the layout, scale and transport mode of trunk highway service facilities, as well as recommendations for the appearance, building style, signage style and setting of service facilities. The Conceptual Planning Scheme of Service Area of General Trunk Highways in Henan Province has been unanimously recognized and praised by the leaders and experts of the provincial highway bureau.
